St. Albert Tour with Minister Shaye Anderson

Last week, my team and I hosted the Hon. Shaye Anderson (Minister of Municipal Affairs and MLA for Leduc-Beaumont) for a full day tour of some of our favorite St. Albert businesses, organizations, and landmarks.

We began the day with a visit to two local inclusive employers: Canadian Tire and St. Albert Honda. Both of these great local business provide opportunities for persons with disabilities to enter the workforce, and the results are truly incredible. It was inspiring to see the difference that inclusion makes.

Afterwards, we had a delicious lunch with members of St. Albert City Council and Mayor Cathy Heron at Juntos Bistro, one of my favorite St. Albert restaurants with a diverse menu and fantastic services. We spent some time discussing shared priorities like transit integration and infrastructure funding before moving on to our next stop.

Minister Anderson and I next visited the staff at Drayden Insurance and Registries, where we learned about some of the issues facing the insurance and registries industries, and all about the history of this homegrown business. Did you know that Drayden's St. Albert location signed up the most organ donors in Alberta last year?

Next, we visited the Enjoy Centre for a tour with Jim Hole, who told us all about the building's functional and eco-friendly design and showcased its spectacular greenhouses. We couldn't help but pick up a couple of tomato plants for the constituency office! We also took the time to observe the traffic on Ray Gibbon Drive - Minister Anderson is well aware of how much St. Albert needs improvements to the roadway to cut down on traffic and improve access to our community's western neighbourhoods.

We ended the day with a drink at Gracie Jane's Boutique Gallery and Bar. Gracie's is a beautifully unique addition to downtown St. Albert, and her artwork is stunning!
